Movie Thoughts: The Bucket List

The Bucket List  has two of my favorite actors, Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman.  If you’ve ever lost someone to a horrible cancer, this movie will really touch you.  Two men make a Bucket List of things they MUST do before they die from their disease.  It’s a humor filled adventure that will also make you cry and think of the things in your life you want to do.  I find it sad that Sean Hayes is getting such small roles in films.  He has great timing and is very funny.  4/5 Beans!

What’s on your Bucket List?  Things you want to do in life.   I’ll have to think about mine and post later.

Movie Thoughts: 27 Dresses

Yes, another chick flick!!!  Husband person is out on the lake, so I can watch MY shows!  27 Dresses is your typical romance comedy.  Katherine Heigl (which is her actual birth name ~ refreshing) is the damsel in love with the man she cannot have, or at least won’t go for.  Through a silly bunch of embarrassing mishaps and tough decisions, she finally ends up with her man.  I’ve never watched Grey’s Anatomy, but I do like her in this and Knocked Up, very cute!  Malin Akerman, who seem sit be new to the Hollywood entertainment scene is very adorable, comes off as a mix of Carrie Underwood and Mischa Barton.  No, not Mischa, more Kate Hudson, definitely Kate.  She has two love interests in the movie:  Kevin, played by James Marsden and George, played by Edward Burns.  Edward Burns is very familiar, but I can’t place him.  I’ve seen The Holiday, but nothing else kicks in.  James Marsden has been in many television shows, but has come out in recent years with some great movies (Hairspray, Enchanted, and Superman Returns).  His smile is a charmer!  It’s a good, but typical chick flick, earning 3/5 beans!

Yes I Know

The movies I’m reviewing have been out for a while, obviously a while enough to make it to DVD.  I was pondering when the last time I went to a movie on “opening” weekend.  I know many of you went to Sex In And The City opening weekend, how fun!  BTW, I have not seen it, lol, it’s not on DVD!

But as I sit and think, I think the last opening show I went to was Star Wars II:  Attack of the Clones, in 2002!

So for all of you out there, who see movies waaaaaaaaaaaayyyy after the fact, as I do, then I hope you enjoy this!

Red Box and Movie Thoughts

Ok, I’ve never been to Hollywood, much less a movie premier.  BUT, I have a new discovery.  The RedBox.  The RedBox is a movie rental machine located in very convenient places.  The two I visit are in Wal*Mart and by McDonalds.  For $1 (YES ONE FREAKING BUCK) you can insert a debit or credit card and rent a movie.  For each additional night you keep it (because we all know it’s nearly IMPOSSIBLE to take a shit without being interrupted by kids, much less sit for a 2.5 hour movie), it’s a buck more.  After 25 nights (and $25) it’s yours (not recommended).  From what I read these machines are located in very convient locations (fast food joints, gas stations, even hospitals).  If you rent from one, you can return it at any Redbox location.  I’ve always gotten a movie that I wanted, it’s never been out.  You can also go to the site and pre-rent your movies before you get there!  A definite FIVE BEANER (see below).

Movies are being rated from 1-5 Beans, with 5 being the best and 1, I wouldn’t let my worse enemy watch it, well maybe I would (more defined ratings to come later, the kids want to go to the RedBox)!

Movie Thoughts: P.S. I love you

P.S. I Love You is a great movie for the true romantic!  I liked Hilary Swank in Million Dollar Baby, and she’s great in this also.  Oft times she actually looks pretty  (you know, as opposed to having a horse teeth smile)!  I LOVE Harry Connick Jr , but in this movie his quirks are a bit too off for me  (has his lips always been THAT big and off centered?).  I love the dedication of the Mother, played by Kathy Bates  (who seems to have a LOT of film work going on), who sees her daughter quickly falling in her steps.  Gerald Butler  (with SIX, count them SIX movies in the works), need I say more?  One thing about movies, I wish they’d give MORE in the ending, ya know?    They always leave you hanging and wanting more.  The overseas scenery is beautiful!  But I’d give this movie a 4/5 Beans for being a true chick flick!

P.S.  Beans are Good!

ETA:  I read on a great Mommy site, that the BOOK is much better!
